Privacy policy

The short version

There are no accounts and no sign-in. We don’t ask for your name, email or payment details. Your trips stay on your device.

Stored on your device

• Your recent trips (up to five), with the checklist items you have ticked, are saved in your browser’s local storage so you can reopen them.
• Your unfinished planner answers (cities, days, style, interests, home country, currency, start date) are saved in your browser for 24 hours so the form can be filled in again.
• How many times you have opened a saved trip, and whether you chose “Not now” on the install prompt, so the prompt appears at the right time and not again for 7 days.
• Pages you have visited are kept in a small offline cache on your device, so the site can show them when you have no connection.
• This data never leaves your device. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

What our servers see

When you open a page or use the planner, your browser sends a normal web request. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes it to deliver the site and keep it secure, and may keep standard technical logs such as IP address, time, page requested and browser type.

The planner asks our servers for public data only: place information, price tables, exchange rates and the booking links for your trip checklist. The request names the cities you picked. Your trip itself, your checklist ticks and your other answers are not sent to us.

Analytics

On the live site (scenetotrip.com) we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which features people use. Google receives the page address, the page you came from, your approximate location (estimated from your IP address), your device and browser type, and the events below.

We switch off Google signals and ad personalization, and we don’t use this data for advertising.

• Trip built: which cities, how many days and which travel style. Never your dates, currency, home country or name.
• Using the trip form on the home page: that you started it, and the cities, style and number of days you sent. Also which home-page button you used and whether you scrolled to the end of the sample route.
• A K-drama place added to a trip: the city and the drama.
• A click on a booking button: the partner and the product.
• The app added to your home screen, when your browser tells us.

Your choices

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default: we don’t set them until we offer a consent choice. Google may still receive limited signals without cookies, such as that a page was viewed.

Everywhere else you can stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits with Google’s browser add-on.

Advertising

We plan to show ads from Google AdSense once Google approves the site. Until then no ads are shown and no ad scripts or ad cookies are loaded. The site carries only a Google AdSense verification tag, which loads nothing.

When ads start, Google and other ad companies it works with may use cookies to show ads and measure them, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google’s ad settings.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we will ask for your consent through a consent tool certified by Google before ads use cookies or personal data. We will update this page and the cookie policy before ads go live.

What we do not do

• We don’t run advertising on the site today (see “Advertising” above for what is planned).
• We don’t sell personal information.
• Apart from Google Analytics on the live site and the trailer preview described below, we don’t load fonts, scripts or images from other companies’ servers.

Videos

Drama pages show the official trailer. Until you press play, only its preview image is loaded, from YouTube’s image server (i.ytimg.com), which sees a normal web request from your browser. When you press play, the video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com); from then on YouTube’s privacy policy applies and YouTube may store data in your browser.

Links to other sites

Booking buttons, map links and source links lead to other websites. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave our site.

Changes

If we add advertising, accounts or more analytics, we will update this page and the cookie policy first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
